Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep takes a major step in digital transformation by choosing IQ Messenger’s vendor-independent alarm platform.
This decision is part of the ‘SIMBA’ project (Smartphone Introduction with Calling and Alarming), preparing the locations in Alkmaar and Den Helder for a future with advanced technology and more efficient workflows.

A smooth transition to new technology

The implementation will start in the existing hospital building, allowing staff to get accustomed to the new working method before transitioning to the new building in Alkmaar. The new facility, which will consist entirely of single-patient rooms, requires a reliable and flexible alarm system. With IQ Messenger on smartphones, nurses have instant access to critical medical alarms and important updates anytime, anywhere. This enables them to better meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare.

More than just smartphones

In addition to introducing smartphones and the IQ Messenger SmartApp, the current pagers used by emergency response and resuscitation teams will eventually be phased out. Notifications will be sent directly to smartphones, enabling faster and more reliable communication. A link will also be established with the ChipSoft HiX EHR, allowing patient data to be easily and securely accessed within IQ Messenger.

Smart functionalities for efficient workflows

The implementation includes several features designed to simplify healthcare processes:

• Active Directory integration for streamlined user management and easy login to applications.

• Graphical floor plans and the dynamic assignment module for improved team coordination and location awareness.

• The SmartApp Event Assignment add-on, allowing staff to assign themselves to specific tasks directly from their smartphones.

• Integration with various medical devices to create a central, integrated working environment.
